Ilker studies intelligent educational technologies that support interactive and social learning. His research studies have been focused on creating innovative technologies that supports the development of 21st century life related skills of students. He has developed emerging educational technology solutions such as social robots, dialog technologies, (social) cognitive artifacts, web 2.0 and mobile apps at different interdisciplinary projects. He has worked with faculties, teachers and school administrators to understand issues on the implementation and process of different learning technologies.

After finishing his PhD at University of Nebraska Lincoln, he joined in the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC), Singapore. Recently, under new forming Social Cognitive Computing Department at IHCPC- A*STAR, Ilker and his two colleagues have been  appointed in charge of setting up a new program called “Intelligent and Social Educational Technologies”  (iSET) . Ilker will continue his studies at  iSET  which has a research focus on understanding how different social interaction and communicative factors enable the design of educational technology in promoting deep cognitive processes of learning and motivation.
