XXVI International Congress of the FILLM

26th FILLM Congress, Day 1 (Tuesday 17 June 2014)

The 26th FILLM Congress was official opened by Professor Geoff Hall (UNNC), head of the local organising committee, before FILLM President Professor Roger D. Sell gave his opening address.

On the first day, Professor Hein Willemse (University of Pretoria, South Africa) gave the first plenary lecture on the state of Afrikaans literature on the African continent. The day also included panel sessions on "Global and Local Perspectives" in languages and literatures, "Human and Environmental Issues" and "Digital Technologies and Literature of the Future."
