NB. The meeting of the FILLM Committee will take place on 16 June 2014 (10 a.m.-5 p.m.) at the University of Nottingham in Ningbo, China, that is, on the day before the beginning of the FILLM Congress. The Committee will convene again in the evening of 18 June if more time is needed. For more info please see here.

East meets West by Ryan Parker

During the Congress it is possible to take part in the following events:

Evening visits to downtown Ningbo

On Tuesday, 17 June 2014, a bus will be available to transport people to downtown Ningbo. This is an option for those who wish to have a look around on their own and perhaps have dinner.

On Wednesday, 18 June 2014, a group visit to downtown Ningbo is organized. The excursion includes a visit to ‘Laowaitan’, Ningbo’s old merchant ‘Bund’, with its river walk and restaurants and bars.

A coach will leave the Congress venue at 6pm and return at 10pm. The fee for transport to and from downtown Ningbo is 50-80 RMB.

Chinese Congress Banquet

The full Chinese Congress Banquet is scheduled for 6pm on Thursday 19 June 2014. It will take place in one of the city's major hotels - Sofitel Wanda.

The price is 250 RMB per person and covers a traditional Chinese meal with several courses mixing both Chinese and Western dishes. Drinks are not included in the price.

More information will be available upon arrival at the conference.

Excursions to local Buddhist shrines and other sights

On the Friday following the Congress (20 June 2014), there will be two full-day excursions to local Buddhist shrines and other sights. It will be possible to sign up for these excursions during the Congress.

Excursion 1

Day trip in and around Ningbo, including visits to the Ningbo Art Museum, the Qita Buddhist Shrine, and the Tianyige Museum and Ningbo's Ancient Library. Coach leaves UNNC at 10am and returns at 5pm.

The price for this excursion will be c.150 RMB and includes entrance fees.
Further details will be available during the Congress.

Excursion 2

Another option for the Friday (20 June 2014) will be a day trip to the 'Jin e Shang' mountain trail. The excursion will allow you to visit the Buddhist shrine that caps the Jin e Shang mountain, overlooking the Henxi valley and its reservoir.

The price for this excursion will be c. 150 RMB. Further details will be available during the Congress.
