23.10.2014 | Adam Borch

At the FILLM Congress in Ningbo, China earlier this year, the federation elected its new Committee. The Committee will sit for a three-year period, until the next FILLM Congress in New Delhi in 2017.

The new Committee is a mixture of familiar faces and fresh blood.

FILLM will now be headed by former Vice-President Meenakshi Bharat (University of Delhi, India). She replaces Roger D. Sell (Åbo Akademi University, Finland) as President of the Federation.

Margaret R. Higonnet
(University of Connecticut, USA) continues as Vice-President and she is joined in that role by newcomer Li Cao (Tsinghua University, China).

Tom Clark (Victoria University, Australia) takes over from Anders Pettersson (University of Umeå, Sweden) as Secretary-General. Tom also continues to be AULLA's representative on the Committee.

Leena Eilittä (University of Helsinki, Finland) moves from being Assistant Secretary-General to taking over as Treasurer from Bénèdicte Ledent (Université de Liège, Belgium).

Former Vice-President Sonia Faessell continues her involvement with FILLM by becoming Assistant Secretary-General.
Shin-ichi Morimoto (Showa Women's University, Japan) continues as Assistant Secretary-General. They are both joined in that capacity by newcomers Adams Bodomo (University of Vienna, Austria), Haun Saussy (University of Chicago, USA), Antoinette Tidjani Alou (Université Abdou Moumouni, Niger) and Liliana Sikorska (Adam Mickiewicz University, Poland). Liliana will also continue as IAUPE's respresentative on the Committee.

Adam Borch (Åbo Akademi University, Finland) replaces John Stotesbury (University of Eastern Finland) as Communications Officer. Adam will also continue to maintain the FILLM website.

Finally, FILLM would like to thank the Nominating Committee for their work in putting forward candidates for the new FILLM Committee. The Nominating Committee was chaired by Theo D'Haen (University of Leuven). Further members were: Adolfo Elizaincín (Universidad de la Republica, Uruguay), Malashri Lal (University of Delhi, India), Françoise Lionnet (UCLA, USA) and Hein Willemse (University of Pretoria, South Africa).
