FILLM News

Much has happened since the last volume of the FILLM Newsletter was distributed in the middle of December 2019 - some would probably even say that the world isn't quite the same place as it was back then. The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted life across the globe, one small example being that a volume of the FILLM Newsletter did not come out as planned in March 2020.

On a larger, more consequential academic scale, we have probably all noticed how conference organizers has had to cancel or reschedule events planned for the spring and summer of this year. This has also been the case for FILLM and its member associations. In the rest of the newsletter, it is possible to see which events have been cancelled or postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but a brief overview is also available here.

The FILLM General Meeting 2020 to Go Ahead

The next General Meeting of the FILLM Committee was supposed to take place in connection with the Congress in Vienna. Given the importance of some of the items on the agenda (e.g. elections to the FILLM Committee), it has been decided that, unlike the Congress, the meeting will not be postponed till 2021.

It will instead be held as a 'teleconference' on the original date, 26 July 2020
. Because of the time differences between Committee members' home countries, it has been decided that the meeting's agenda will be restricted to the most urgent issues. More information will be send out separately to the Committee Members.
